Housing Secretary Angela Rayner to be quizzed by Laura Kuenssberg published at 08:40 GMT Image source, EPA Angela Rayner is in the hot seat this morning on Laura Kuenssberg's show. The housing, communities and local government secretary's appearance on the programme comes ahead of Labour's first Budget under Prime Minister Andy Burnham, which is due on Wednesday. Last week, Chancellor John Healey vowed to cut red tape for businesses as part of a broader effort to offer households and businesses more support amid rising costs.
But rising inflation and government borrowing have both added to the pressure on him. This week, the government approved extraction from the Jackdaw gas field in the North Sea, and Defence Secretary Wes Streeting urged households to think about preparedness in the face of natural disasters, cyber attacks or state-sponsored terrorism. Reform UK's Robert Jenrick and Liberal Democrat Daisy Cooper are the other political guests on the programme.
